Cedar Wrapped Grilled Cajun Salmon Bowl
This cedar wrapped grilled Cajun salmon bowl is packed full of savory flavors and healthy ingredients. I love using cedar wraps when grilling salmon as it helps to infuse the salmon with a light smoky flavor. Combined with the Cajun seasoning and the agave, this easy cedar wrapped grilled salmon recipe has a lot of rich and balanced flavor notes. To make this a more filling meal, I have added brown rice, edamame, and broccoli with their own sesame ginger flavor notes that pairs with the flavor notes of the salmon beautifully. – Kara, The Accidental Chef
Serves 5
Ingredients:
- 5 Cedar wraps and string
- 5 fillets of sockeye salmon
- 1 tsp of garlic salt
- 2 tsp of Black Magic Cajun spice blend from Spiceology
- 2 1/2 tsp of agave
- 2 cups of brown rice, uncooked
- 6 oz of edamame, frozen
- 1/2 tsp of ground ginger
- 1 tbsp of tamari
- 1 tsp of sesame oil
- 2 broccoli small heads, chopped
- 1/2 tsp Garlic salt
Directions:
Soak the cedar wraps for at least 4 hours before using.
In a rice cooker, add 2 cups of brown rice and water and cook it according to the instructions.
Season the sockeye salmon with 1 tsp of garlic salt.
Then massage 2 tsp of the Cajun seasoning into the salmon.
Slice the sockeye salmon into 5 fillets.
Wrap up each fillet with one cedar wrap and secure with the string.
Grill the cedar wrapped salmon over medium heat for 8 mins.
In a microwaveable bowl, add the chopped broccoli florets with 1/2 tsp of garlic salt. Fill the bowl halfway with water and cook in the microwave on cook- vegetable (this will steam the broccoli). Once cooked, drain the water, and set the broccoli aside in a large mixing bowl.
Defrost the edamame in the microwave and then set those in the same mixing bowl.
Add the rice to the mixing bowl.
Then add the 1/2 tsp of ginger, 1 tbsp of tamari, and 1 tsp of sesame oil to the bowl and mix well.
To serve, add the brown rice mixture to your bowl first, and then add the salmon fillet on top.
